Skeeter

SKEETER

Meet the little luv bug, named Skeeter!

Age: Estimated at 2 years old
Breed: Terrier/poodle mix is our best guess (note, he does shed minimally)
Size: 19 pounds
📍Located: East Edmonton

🐾Skeeter is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and has no known health concerns

Good with Dogs❓
It takes patience with introductions - he comes on pretty strong and can be reactive, but we are teaching him the “leave it” command to slow meetings down. I would LOVE for his adoptive person to take him for some training to work on this, as I think he wants to make friends but was never shown how to do so properly. 🐕 He HAS made a few dog pals, while in foster care and he peacefully, and happily, co exists with the resident dog.

Good with Cats❓Untested

Good with Kids❓Untested
Skeeter is a bit unsure of himself - most likely from all the recent changes in his life. We would suggest older, respectful, dog savvy kids who will allow Skeeter to progress at his own pace and build his confidence.

👍Great on leash/harness
👍Navigates stairs like a pro
👍Great with bathing and nail trimming
👍Fully housetrained
👍Has been great when left alone, free in the house. Crates are a no-go with this guy. With time and a lot of patience, MAYBE he could get used to it, but in his foster home he has proven he is trustworthy to roam free, so we haven’t insisted on it.
👍Amazing recall
👍He came into our care knowing some basic cues. Come, sit, shake….
👍Sleeps soundly through the night…his preference is IN bed with the human.
😁Has the BEST smile when you come back home (even after 5 minutes!!)

Skeeter loves to run, and run FAST💨. He is smart and might be a great candidate for some fun in the agility ring, or at fly ball!

In his foster home, he bonded hard and fast with his primary care giver. With time, patience and a few treats, he has accepted others into his orbit, but is weary to start….we ARE making good progress with this!

Skeeter loves to be where the action is at and doesn’t want to miss out on any family fun. He really likes to hang outside in the backyard, but prefers his human to be out there with him.

Although he readily hops into the car, seemingly excited for a road trip, he is quite nervous during the ride itself - UNLESS he is sitting on someone’s lap! His foster mom is addressing this by taking him on multiple short car rides (with him harnessed in the back seat) where the destination is FUN for dogs!

Skeeter absolutely deserves his happily ever after, with someone who will help him achieve his best dog life💞
