Shaymus
UPDATE!!
"Not one single application for me?!?" - Shaymus
Shaymus š
What a difference some LOVE and attention to allergies makes! šš©µšš©µ Shaymus came to us with severe skin issues due to untreated allergies. Now he is looking oh so good and ready to make some family complete!
Shaymus is...
1yr 7months Approximately
Breed Best Guess: Shar Pei Mix
Weighing in at 40 kg.
š§Untested with kids. Foster thinks he may be a bit too rambunctious for smaller children.
šŗš¶Untested with cats and dogs but foster says he's super friendly and likely will be good with other dogs with a proper introduction.
More from his Foster Family:
He is afraid of/a bit in love with frogs šø
He is a beautiful boy who has been through a lot!
He is our first foster that seems to be so elated to be rescued, he definitely tries to please his people and succeeds!
Shaymus is really easy to train and definitely had already had some training. He is completely house trained and sleeps through the night! He is eating regular dog food now as long as it has no chicken, turkey or duck. š¦
His skin is still healing in some areas but it doesnāt bother him at all. His fur is now beautiful, glossy and healthy! He is fine when we are at work with only a few whines when we leave. Shaymus is a very happy guy with lots of love to giveā„ļøHe has been a pleasure to Foster.
šLocation: Bluffton
Adoption Fee: $435
(Includes microchip, neuter/spay, vaccines and deworming)
š¾NOTE: He has allergies and will need regular vet visits and medication (Apoquel). Plus all beef diet.
His allergies are likely diet and environmentally related. Allergies are sometimes a puzzle that need to be worked out over time.
Will need to monitor his ears as well.
Might have flare ups.
This will be the responsibility of the new ownersš¾
Update:
Wait⦠is that the same dog?? š
You better believe it!
Just a few days ago, Shaymus was a hot, itchy, heartbreaking mess, broken skin, broken spirit, and no idea what it felt like to just exist without pain and discomfort.
Now?
āØLight in his eyes
āØA safe, warm place to sleep
āØProper food, meds, and a foster who deserves a medalš„
āØAnd⦠dare we say it? Heās happy. Genuinely happy.
Heās still got a long road ahead, but what a difference love, patience, and a good diet can make in a matter of days.
And if that wasnāt enough
Shaymus has layers, folks.š
Yes, heās the guy who rips stuffie toys to shreds like itās his full-time job.
But heās also the guy who carefully carries a single uncooked spaghetti noodle to bed like itās the Hope Diamond.
No crunch, no snapā¦just pure, delicate noodle transport.š¤£
Weāre not saying heās perfect.
(He definitely has a little āchaotic toddler energyā in him.)
But we are saying heās pretty freakinā amazing.
From tortured to treasured, this is what rescue is all about. š¤
Keep cheering him on, and if youād like to support Shaymusās ongoing care (and maybe his next round of stuffie victims), donations are always appreciated.
Because spaghetti boy deserves the world.š
Original Post:
ā¤ļøāš©¹What is the right thing to do?
Yesterday broke me.
Itās been a long time since I felt that familiar lump in my throat. But yesterday, the tears came anyway. Silent. Heavy. Not from helplessness, but from heartbreak.
Because, I was asked to make a choice.
Not obligated too, but asked. Which Iām thankful for the opportunity to help.š¾
A dog. Just over a year old.
No name.
Overgrown nails.
A visible mass on his neck.
Skin red and raw from long-ignored allergies.
Neglected. Forgotten. Thrown away.
And now⦠his time is up.
ā¦..āWeāll wait to hear back from you before making any final decisions.āā¦..
That decision? Life or death.
This is the part of rescue most people donāt see. The unbearable weight of knowing we canāt save them all. š£
We wish we could. God, we try.
But rescue isnāt just about loveā¦. itās about resources, space, time, and money. Itās about hard calls that haunt us.š„ŗ
Weāve named him Shaymus,
But taking Shaymus on means vet bills, treatments, and ongoing care to manage his skin and other medical concerns. And we canāt do it alone.
Weāre urgently looking for a foster home - someone who can help him heal, attend vet appointments, and gently care for his damaged skin as it starts to repair with proper treatment and love.ā¤ļø
Weāve seen dogs like him come back to life. Weāve seen broken become beautiful.
That is our hope for Shaymus. But hope alone isnāt enough.
We will say yes.
We will fight for him.
But we need help to do it.
Please donate if you can.
Foster if youāre able.
Share his story.
Help us give Shaymus a chance.
