Jovie has been diagnosed with osteochondrosis dissecans (OCD) of the left tarsal (ankle) joint. Her prognosis for full joint recovery and function is guarded, and she may experience intermittent or persistent lameness over time, with an increased risk of developing osteoarthritis as she ages. The EHS medical team has consulted with a veterinary surgeon regarding her diagnosis and long-term management. Ongoing care may include weight management, activity modification, joint supplementation, and potential surgical intervention depending on progression.

We think Jovie can have good quality of life with a prudent caretaker who will continue monitoring and treating any symptoms as they arise.
